I love to create. I always have. For sometime I went from one thing to the next. Searching for my niche. Somehow I became interested in making floor cloths. I sold some on eBay and a few to some of my hair clients. However, I did find that there was not much of a call for them.
When my mom became ill I put the floor cloth making aside and tended to her. When she died I felt a terrible loss. I was searching for something new, something she and I did not have in common. I saw an article on meditation beads. I found them interesting, even though I don't meditate! I told my husband the idea, which he loved because he meditates. So I bought some beads and made some meditation beads. Everyone loved the beads and everyone wanted jewelry made from them not meditation beads. That's when my jewelry making began. While playing with the beads I found a calmness and closeness to my mom. I later learned that my mom and aunt had discussed starting to make jewelry together just before my mom got sick. With that information I kind of felt that I was living one of my mom's dreams and it brought me great comfort.
As time went on I became unhappy with the beading and wanted to put my own unique look to my work. That was about 4 years ago when I came across metal clay. I am self taught and love what I do. I am still experimenting and developing my style.
I use Etsy as a website for my jewelry. I love the Etsy community, although I lurk in the shadows at this point. I am a leader on a Etsy Metal Clay Heads Team. They are a wonderful group of people that have been so helpful in helping me stay focused and try new things.
You can find me holding a work shop once a month at the River Art Gallery and Gifts in North Tonawanda, NY. And I am a teaching artist at Artpark in Lewiston, NY. This includes 4 kids camp workshops and 1 all day adult workshop. Message me if you'd like details on taking a class or joining the workshop.
I do believe I will always be a student. Please keep checking back to see my progress.....
